Quality Assurance
Quality is the essential factor for our
success. A good Quality Assurance System can assure our client of a qualified
translation, especially for this web based service provider. We mainly
guarantee our translation quality from following three phases:
Translator Qualification
Working with over 1,000 highly qualified
translators worldwide, we are in the position to fulfill all of your
translation requirements whether it is a one-time project or an ongoing
requirement. As one of North America’s leading translation agencies, we receive
more than 50 new translator applications each week on average and we will
accept about 20% of them to be our translators. In order to guarantee the
translator quality, each one should:
·
Have translated at least 100,000 words
·
Have at least one official document indicating training
accomplishment or other capability
·
Translate only into their native language
·
Be appropriately qualified in their technical areas
·
Have working industry experience for the material they translate
·
We always use translators who live in-country, where this is
appropriate. This is because language is an evolving entity, and any translator
who has been out of the country for a length of time will be unsuitable to translate
material for that target audience.
The exception to this rule is where the
material is aimed at communities living outside of that country. In these
circumstances a translator from the target country will be used wherever
possible.
Working Procedure
In order to guarantee the translation
quality, we have designed a strict working procedure which fully complies with
the requirement of ISO9001. And our
quality control points are as follows:
1) Translator Selection: Only qualified
translators meeting the above mentioned criteria can be selected for your
project, and as our clients, you have right to check the qualification of your
translators;
2) Terminology Check: Before we begin the
actual translation, we extract and translate the key terms, taking into
consideration industry-specific issues, and cultural- and country-specific
issues. This is especially important in projects that involve more than one
translator, to maintain consistency in writing style and terminology usage.
3) Quality Controller: We have both
translator and proofreader working together to guarantee the quality before we
submit the work to you. When a translation is received from the translator, it
is passed to an proofreader for proofreading. The proofreader first reads the
translation copy to make sure that it reads well in the target language. The
proofreader then compares the translation with the original to check for
missing segments and incorrect sequences.
4) Print Check: Once the material is
ready, it is typeset according to client requirements. At this stage it is
given a final check to verify proper page layout, correct headers/footers,
numbering and page numbering. Once this check is made, your translation is
perfect and can be sent for your approval.
5) Knowledge Management: Whenever clients
make any complaints about the translation errors, we will save the errors into
our database and every translator has access to this database so as to avoid
any future similar errors;
6) Quality Error Responsibility: Each
translator and proofreader should be totally responsible for their work, so
once you found their works really have any errors, please inform us as soon as
possible, and we will require our translators to review your complains
immediately.
